Vig's Story

Hi, I’m Vighnesh, a graduate student at NC State University. Originally from the bustling city of Mumbai, India, I grew up in one of the most densely populated cities in the world. This unique environment allowed me to meet a diverse range of people and build strong relationships, fostering a sense of responsibility and the ability to work collectively towards common goals.

These experiences shaped me into a team-oriented individual and ignited my passion for team sports like soccer, cricket, and basketball. The teamwork and strategy involved in these sports helped me discover my love for impacting the people around me. So when I was contemplating which career to choose and field to pursue, these feelings, coupled with my interest in technology, led me to see software as a powerful medium capable of impacting millions. This realization inspired me to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering with a specialization in Software Development.

During my four years of study, I actively participated in various student organizations and clubs, often taking on leadership roles. These experiences solidified my love for leadership and decision-making. It was through this journey that I discovered the field of Product Management. I quickly fell in love with the role, which perfectly blends leadership, strategy, and innovation. One of my mentors once said, "You have to be smart in front of cool guys and cool in front of smart guys." This resonated with me and fueled my passion for becoming a product manager.

Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to work with incredible bosses, mentors, and colleagues who have guided and supported me. Their influence has been instrumental in my professional growth and development.
